Want to control your lighting with your phone or smart assistant? Here’s how to connect your smart bulb to the ASK4 network.
The steps to add a smart lightbulb depend on which networks are available in your building.
Which network do you see in your WiFi settings?
I can see "ASK4 Resident"
Step 1 - Power on your smart bulb
- Install the bulb in a light fitting
- Switch it on – most bulbs will enter pairing mode automatically (often shown by flashing light)
- If it doesn't, check the packaging or instructions to manually enable pairing mode
Step 2 - Connect your phone or tablet to ASK4 Resident
Before setup, make sure your mobile device is connected to ASK4 Resident:
- Go to Settings WiFi
- Select ASK4 Resident
- Wait until it says "Connected"
- If prompted, complete registration at https://myaccount.ask4.com
The smart bulb will connect through your phone during setup, so this step is important.
Enter your personal WiFi passphrase when prompted. This is the passphrase you received when you first signed up - you can also find it in MyAccount at https://myaccount.ask4.com.
Your device is automatically added to your account and is now online.
Step 3 - Use the smart bulb's app
Open the manufacturer's app (e.g. Tapo, Smart Life, Tuya, Philips Hue, etc.) and start setup:
- Tap Add device
- Follow the instructions until prompted to select a network
- Choose ASK4 Resident
The bulb may appear to "connect" but will remain offline until it's registered manually.
Step 4 - Reconnect and test
- Turn the bulb off and back on
- Restart the app
- Reconnect the bulb to ASK4 Resident
- It should now show as online and controllable in the app
Helpful tips
- Many bulbs only support 2.4GHz networks – ASK4 Resident includes this
- If your app shows the bulb as offline, re-check the MAC address and registration
- Still not working? Contact Support
I can see "ASK4 Wireless" (but not "ASK4 Resident")

A MAC address looks like: 00:1B:44:11:3A:B7
