Setting up your Google Home speaker or Chromecast for streaming and smart control? Here’s how to get them online with ASK4.
Step 1 - Connect to ASK4 Wireless
Start with the open network ASK4 Wireless:
Chromecast
Plug in your Chromecast and switch your TV to the correct input
Open the Google Home app on your phone
Tap + > Set up device > New device
Follow the steps until prompted to connect to WiFi
Choose ASK4 Wireless
Google Home / Nest
Open the Google Home app
Tap + > Set up device > New device
Choose your Google Home/Nest device
Select ASK4 Wireless
You may see a “limited connection” warning – that’s normal until registration is complete.
Step 2 - Register your device manually
Chromecast and Google Home cannot open the registration page themselves. Use your phone, laptop, or tablet to register the device instead:
Log into your ASK4 account
Add the device using its MAC address
Click Enable this device
Step 3 - Find your MAC address
Chromecast
Set up the device using the Google Home app
Tap the device in the app
Tap the cog icon > Device information > MAC address
Google Home / Nest
Tap the device in the Google Home app
Tap the cog icon > Device information > MAC address
It should look like: 30:AE:A4:22:BC:19
Step 4 - Reconnect and restart
Unplug your Chromecast or speaker, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in
Reconnect to ASK4 Wireless via the app if needed
It should now come online and begin working normally
Troubleshooting tips
Make sure Private MAC is disabled if your phone offers that option during setup
If you don’t see the MAC address, set up the device fully first – the app will show it afterward
