If you’re unsure whether your device or the network is causing your connection issue, testing with a mobile hotspot can help narrow it down.
Why this helps
Using a mobile hotspot can confirm:
Whether your device’s wireless adapter is working
If the problem is with the ASK4 network or your device
Whether apps or settings on your device are interfering with connectivity
Step 1 - Set up a hotspot on your phone
On iPhone:
Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot
Toggle on Allow Others to Join
Note the WiFi password displayed
On Android:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & tethering
Tap WiFi hotspot
Turn it on and set a name and password if needed
Step 2 - Connect your device to the hotspot
On your laptop, tablet, or other device
Select your phone’s hotspot name from the list of WiFi networks
Enter the password and connect
Step 3 - Test your internet connection
Once connected, try the following:
Open a browser and visit several websites
Stream a short video to check speed and stability
Run a speed test using fast.com or speedtest.net
Step 4 - Review the results
If your device works fine on the hotspot:
The issue is likely with your ASK4 connection or account setup. If your device still has problems:
The issue may be with the device itself (e.g. outdated drivers, network settings, or hardware faults).
Step 5 - Next steps
If the issue is with the ASK4 network:
Return to ASK4 Wireless and recheck registration via https://myaccount.ask4.com
Use the ASK4 Diagnostics app to check the connection: How to use the ASK4 Diagnostics app
If the issue is with your device:
