We're excited to introduce a new, streamlined way for you to add devices to your account using a QR code. This feature is currently available at selected sites and allows you to add devices quickly and easily without the need to log in. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.
How It Works
1. QR Code Display: On the main page of the Signup portal, you’ll see a QR code. This will only appear if you're using a device larger than a phone, like a tablet or computer.
2. Requirements:
- You must be connected to our Wi-Fi network.
- Your account should be active (not expired, disabled, or affected by rent arrears).
- You should have available device slots in your account.
3. Device Addition:
- You don’t need to log in to your account. As long as you're on our Wi-Fi, the QR code will recognise your account and add the device.
- After scanning the QR code, the device will be automatically added to your account. You'll receive a confirmation email shortly after this process is complete.
- The device must not already be registered to another account. In such cases, a QR code won’t be displayed.
4. QR Code Expiry:
- QR codes are time-sensitive and will expire after a short period. The Signup page refreshes automatically a few minutes before this happens, ensuring you always have a valid code.
What to Expect After Scanning
- Device Information: After scanning the QR code, the Signup page will auto-fill the device name based on our best guess of the manufacturer and type. You can change this name if you wish.
- Confirmation: Clicking “Continue” will add the device to your account, and you’ll be redirected to a confirmation page.
- Email Notification: You will receive an email from `support@ask4.com` with the subject “A new device has been added” once the device is successfully linked to your account.
Troubleshooting
- If there’s an issue during the process, an error message will appear on the screen.
- The device that was originally showing the QR code should recognise it’s connected after a few seconds and redirect to a success page.
