Private Wi-Fi Address & MAC Rotation
Apple devices have two security feature enabled by default 'MAC Randomisation' and 'MAC Rotation'.
Private Wi-Fi Address, or 'MAC Randomisation' helps protect your privacy and security, by changing the device MAC address every time you forget the network and reconnect.
Because we need your MAC address to be registered to your account, this means you may have to re-add your device every time you forget the network while this feature is enabled.
This only applies to the open network (ASK4Wireless, or ASK4WiFi).
MAC Rotation changes your device MAC address more frequently, without the requirement to forget the network. This can be every two weeks.
To resolve this, we recommend connecting to the secure ASK4 Wireless 802.1x network instead. This will allow you to connect securely, without randomising your device MAC address and forcing you to re-add your device.
Please note: You will need to have already signed up and created an account in order to connect to ASK4Wireless 802.1x
Alternatively, if you still wish to use the ASK4Wireless open network, you may opt to disable the feature. This is entirely up to you.
Below are the instructions on how to do this on iOS. You can find instructions for Android & Windows via Google.
Disabling Private Address
Go to 'Settings', then tap the information button next to ASK4Wireless. Tap the slider next to 'Private Wi-Fi Address' to remove MAC randomisation.
Disabling MAC Rotation
Go to 'Settings', then tap the information button next to ASK4Wireless. Tap the slider next to 'Rotate Wi-Fi Address' to remove MAC rotation.
